 I live with a beautiful woman.  We’ve had a thrilling romance for nearly four years, and we met while she was running a shoe store.  Does that count?  I don’t give a damn.  I’m not concerned with impressing other men.  I’m interested in living a life of value.
 
 Many dating coaches believe seduction is a numbers game.  They attest that approaching copious amounts women increases your odds of forming a sexual bond.  I’m won’t argue against the underlying logic that more potential lovers increases the likelihood of finding a dame, but that line of thinking won’t help you find a compatible partner.
 
 The “numbers mentality” lacks a filter.  Common sense tells us that we won’t get along with every lady we meet.  Weeding out incompatible women limits your dating pool, and may give you the sense that romance is scarce.  Most men prefer to scroll through a robust contact list full of sexy women—even if half of those people won’t answer your call (or don’t even remember you).  But those guys are only deluding themselves.  Don’t waste your time (or money) going on bad dates.  Find a gal who fits the bill.
 
 I once heard a great analogy; searching for love without using online dating is like wandering through a massive library without using a card catalog, and hoping for the perfect book to fall off of the shelf.  The odds are not in your favor.  Sites like Match and OKCupid are not a Panacea, but they are a good place to start (Tinder lacks a robust filtering system).  The key is to actually read women’s profiles, and take the time to make sure your personal profile is detailed.  Guys have a habit of making snap decisions based on photos alone.  How is that different from a random pickup?  Take advantage of the information she’s published.
 
 Online dating is just one way of screening women.  Old-fashioned conversation is still effective—and necessary.  Ask useful questions and tune in to her answers.  The number of men who ask questions incessantly, but never seem to digest the responses invariably amazes me.  Imagine the ideal lover, and plot out queries that’ll help disqualify women who don’t captivate you.  Dating isn’t an inquisition.  Stick with a handful of valuable questions.
 
 Above all, remember that being selective is sexy.  Women avoid dating “easy” men.  Too much romantic availability is a sign of low self-esteem—plus it’s financially irresponsible.  Think of all the money you’ll save by courting the right woman.  You’ll have fewer dates—better dates.
